Everyone has choices to make in life, and sometimes those choices can come back to bite us later. One mom knows this from experience, and now her choices are making it hard for her to find a job.
In today’s world, tattoos are pretty normal. We see them all around us, but some people go a bit overboard. That’s what happened with Melissa Sloan.
Melissa has around 800 tattoos, and she has definitely experienced the wild side of body art. The 46-year-old mom from Wales is sharing her story because she feels that her tattoos are making it hard for her to get a job.
At one time, Melissa worked as a toilet cleaner, but now she is upset that her body art, which covers her face and entire body, is stopping her from finding a similar job. She feels judged by people when they see her.
“I can’t find a job. I applied for a toilet cleaning position in my area, but they won’t hire me because of my tattoos,” she explained.
Melissa is a mom of two kids, and she just can’t understand why people think her tattoos would stop them from hiring her. She mentioned, “Some people say I’ve never worked a day in my life, but I did have a job once, even if it didn’t last long. If someone offered me a job tomorrow, I would definitely take it.”
She got her first tattoo when she was only 20 and quickly became really into it. Melissa loves getting tattoos on her face, but now there’s no bare skin left! Her older tattoos have been covered up three times, so her face looks like a colorful collage of ink.
Even though it’s tough for her to find a job, she mentioned that she still manages to get at least three new tattoos every week. She said:
“When I turn 70, I’ll still be getting tattoos. I want every part of my skin to be covered, even if I end up looking blue. My face is already kind of blue — I look like a Smurf!”
