NFL reporter confirms passing of 2-year-old daughter after cancer diagnosis.

NFL reporter Doug Kyed has shared the tragic news that his two-year-old daughter has passed away, just nine months after being diagnosed with leukemia.

Reports indicate that little Hallie Kyed received the devastating news in April 2023. Doug, who writes for the Boston Herald, posted on Instagram that his daughter lost her battle on January 2021.

Kyed mentioned that Hallie’s condition worsened after she relapsed following a bone marrow transplant.

“Hallie died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning while Jen and I held her hands in bed,” Doug wrote. “We’re completely lost and heartbroken without Hallie. Our lives will never be the same.”

After Hallie’s relapse, Doug expressed that the family was trying to remain hopeful despite the challenges they faced.

I’m trying to keep a positive outlook,” the reporter mentioned back then.

“Hallie has overcome every challenge that AML has thrown her way so far. This will definitely be her hardest test, but if anyone can conquer it, it’s our brave little Hallie Bear.”

However, Doug acknowledged that they “understood the prognosis wasn’t good when she relapsed after her bone marrow transplant, so the whole family made sure to spend quality time at the hospital last week. Still, we held onto hope for remission because of how courageous, strong, and resilient Hallie has been throughout her nine-month fight with acute myeloid leukemia and all the complications that came with it.”

According to the American Cancer Society, acute myeloid leukemia begins in the bone marrow but quickly spreads into the bloodstream. From there, it can reach the lymph nodes, liver, spleen, and central nervous system.

Doug told the Boston Herald that he has spent nearly half of his nights at Boston’s Children Hospital since his daughter was diagnosed last year.

“My wife and I take turns looking after Hallie and our 5-year-old, Olivia, at home,” he said.

Doug’s wife, Jen, expressed her grief by saying it feels like there’s a huge void in her heart.

“There’s a massive hole in my heart, and the pain is unbearable,” Jen Kyed revealed. “I can’t comprehend why or how something so terrible could happen.”

Rest in peace, Hallie.
