When Daniel saw his older neighbor arguing with her son about her plants, he kindly offered to assist, volunteering to water her garden. Later on, he found a note hidden in the dirt that unexpectedly changed everything.
“I can’t believe you’d ask me to do that! I can’t come every day to water your plants! If you gave me the house, then I would!” Daniel heard someone shouting as he stopped his bike in front of a charming house with a lovely garden. He knew an elderly woman named Mrs. Carrino lived there but had never talked to her and didn’t know who was yelling.
Just then, he saw a man storm out of the house still yelling while the older woman followed him. “Arnold, I asked for your help and all you’re talking about is inheriting the house! Do you want me gone so you can have it?” she shouted.
As Daniel stood frozen in place, their argument continued. Then he heard metal crashing which startled him. “You’re being dramatic Mom. This house will be mine anyway. I can’t believe you’re giving me trouble when I came here to help pack!” Arnold fumed as he rushed to his car and drove off leaving his mother standing there frustrated.
Finally noticing Daniel she asked “Oh who are you? Do I know you?”
“I’m Daniel from two houses down,” he explained concernedly. “I was riding by heard all this noise and wanted to check if you’re okay.”
“Ah yes! Now I remember you don’t worry it’s just my son being difficult,” she replied rolling her eyes.
“Why was he upset?” Daniel questioned.
Mrs Carrino sighed deeply “I’m moving into a retirement home and needed help packing but all he did was ask for the house saying he’d live here instead of helping me out at all.” She looked sad as she continued “This home means so much too me and I’m not giving it up while I’m still here.”
Daniel shrugged casually “I can water them if you’d like.”
“Really? But dear I can’t pay you,” she said apologetically.
“That’s fine,” Daniel assured her smiling “I live close by it’s no trouble.”
A few days later Mrs Carrino moved away but kept his promise watering her plants regularly; soon enough he’d discovered how much fun gardening could be visiting often asking about new plants too add “Keep an eye on the soil; you’ll never know what you’ll find!” she joked mysteriously one time!
As time passed by developing this love for gardening made him dream of starting his own business helping ease family financial troubles until one day while planting azaleas digging where metal clinked uncovering mason jar containing note inside!
“Dear Daniel thankyou for your help this house is now yours! Go inside find paperwork You & your family may move in whenever ready!”
In shock daniel rushed inside using key left behind finding title deed with name written on it calling Mrs Carrino confirming everything told him “You’ll just need sign papers make official wanted first find note!”
