Tim noticed a young girl across the street waving at him every evening. She would lift her hand in the air and wave.
He turned to his wife, Sandy, and said that she was waving again. Tim felt like the little girl was calling him over. But Sandy suggested that maybe she was just being friendly.
That night, he dreamt about the little girl. She was pleading with him not to leave her. Then Sandy woke him up, saying he had been talking in his sleep.
Tim shared his dream with her. When morning came, he decided to go across the street and knock on their door.
A woman’s voice came through the intercom asking who it was; Tim replied that he wanted to talk about their daughter.
When the woman opened the door, he couldn’t believe it—it was Julie! The little girl then appeared behind Julie and hugged Tim tightly, shouting “DADDY!!”
Julie pulled him inside for a chat. She asked if Tim remembered their lake house from six years ago. Before they split up, Julie had gotten pregnant but didn’t know until three months later.
She explained that she couldn’t contact him after he moved away and changed his number.
Heidi sat quietly in a corner.
Julie mentioned that after her job sent her here, she moved into this place. A week ago she saw Tim living right across from her! Heidi recognized how her dad looked because Julie showed her pictures when she’d ask about him.
Then Julie told Tim how she saw him with another woman and noticed their rings—that’s why she didn’t reach out before now!
When Tim mentioned Heidi waving at him, Julie said she didn’t realize Heidi had seen her father living so close by.
Tim said he needed some time alone to think things over as he started to leave; Heidi ran after him asking if he really was going away.
Tim smiled at her and promised he’d be back soon enough!
Once home again, tears streamed down his face as he fell into Sandy’s arms; she comforted while listening to what happened next!
Sandy suggested doing a DNA test just to be sure—if what Julie claimed is true then he’d have no choice but commit himself fully as a father now!
A week later they found out for certain: Heidi really is his daughter! Sandy welcomed Heidi warmly into their family.
