Do you see a man and a woman in an empty room?

Today’s optical illusion was created by German illusionist and artist Hilbert Schwarz. In the late 18th century, he made a living by creating optical illusions published in magazines and newspapers.

Sadly, Hilbert Schwarz wasn’t very popular, but his works can still be found in old libraries. These mysterious pictures are now national treasures.

Here’s one of his popular illusions. Look at the picture. What do you see? An empty room, a table, two chairs, and a lamp. There are cards on the table, suggesting someone was about to play a game.

Think about it. Even if the players left (to smoke or rest), why leave the cards face – up? They’d see each other’s cards when they came back.

Actually, the room isn’t empty. There are a man and a woman in it. Can you spot them in the picture?
